Course objectives
The seminar is focused on the most current events in Czech literature, presenting the latest works and their creators. Emphasis is also placed on the development of the listeners' ability to critically reflect on a literary work, on the cultivation of professional expression of personal opinions and their persuasive argumentation. Last but not least, the personal creativity of seminarians is developed.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- understand literary texts;
- analyse and intepret literary texts, and to present their own findings and opinions;
- read and work with the secondary literature by using their sense of critique;
- be aware of Czech writers and their production of the last 10 years;
- view Czech contemporary literature in its different themes, forms and shapes.

Lectures, class discussion, brainstorming, team-work, assignments, seminar essay, analysis and interpretation of texts, reading at home.
Assessment methods
Adequate attendance (2 absences possible), active participation in class, reading at home, assignments, writing and presenting a report, final colloquium.
