It is a place, where departmental teachers, visiting professors and Ph.D. students of similar theoretical orientation meet, discussing specific linguistic issues. Ph.D. students get thus acquainted with findings of present-day linguistics, improving their knowledge and competences, such as presenting results of their research in front of the scholarly audience, defending their opinions in a scholarly discussion or critically interpreting scholarly sources (mostly written in foreign languages).
- Learning outcomes
- Having participated in the course, students will be able:
a) to analyze scholarly sources critically,
b) to identify an object of linguistic analysis and to apply an adequate methodology for the purpose of its analysis,
c) to present results of their research,
d) to participate in scholarly discussions,
e) to defend their opoinions in discussions. - Syllabus
- Teaching is organized in groups of Ph.D. students, corresponding with key areas of research at the Department of Czech Language: 1. synchronic linguistics, 2. diachronic linguistics, 3. corpus and computer linguistics.
