Course objectives
The DESB76 Research for/through design: writing seminar is intended for students who have done their own research in the field of information services design and want to work on a written output (report, article) from this research as part of the seminar. The course is primarily intended for students of the Information Services Design (B.Sc.) program and students of the design profile of the ISK Master's program.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
- understand, explain and apply the Research for Design approach and Research through Design,
- critically evaluate the role of design approaches in the context of information science,
- navigate the range of scholarly resources in design thinking, information services design and related fields,
- to prepare a systematic search in a selected area of their own design research;
- produce a professional text in the field of design research.
Syllabus
  • The course takes place in the form of joint meetings and individual or group mentoring/supervision for writing a professional text. Dates for meetings are always on Tuesdays at 6pm on the following dates: September 17th (introductory organizational session) September 24th (academic writing kick-off) October 15th (progress sharing session) November 5th (progress sharing session) November 26th (progress sharing session) December 17th (progress sharing session) January 21st (final sharing session)
