Course objectives
The course aims to develop students' skills and competencies necessary for effective participation in a mentoring relationship, whether as a mentor or a mentee. Students will learn how to provide and receive constructive feedback and develop leadership and coaching skills. Mentors will receive supervision and support from experts, gaining additional professional guidance and reflection on their mentoring approach.
Learning outcomes
Gaining practical experience in mentoring as a mentor or a mentee. Development of communication, leadership, and reflective skills. The ability to provide and receive feedback. Experience with professional supervision and its benefits for personal and professional development.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to Mentoring *Definition and essence of mentoring. *Differences between mentoring, coaching, and supervision. *The importance of mutual learning and personal development. The Role of Mentor and Mentee *Competencies of a mentor. *Competencies of a mentee. *Building trust and open communication. Goals and Structure of Mentoring *How to set and achieve goals in mentoring. *Phases of the mentoring cycle. *Documentation and evaluation of progress. Feedback and Reflection *Providing and receiving feedback effectively. *Techniques for reflection and self-assessment. Supervision as Mentor Support *What is supervision and why is it important for mentors. *The role of a supervisor in developing mentoring skills. *Practical examples and real-life cases.
Teaching methods
Lectures and workshops focused on theoretical knowledge. Interactive activities and simulations of mentoring conversations. Supervised meetings with an expert mentor.
Assessment methods
Active participation in agreed-upon meetings (minimum of 6 meetings) A completed "Mentoring Journey" document Final reflection
