- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to teach basic work skills (including methodology) in music of the 17th and 18th centuries.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course the student will able to: 1) to elaborate literature on the given state of research in accordance with the standard given by the Institute of Musicology, Faculty of Arts, MU 2) use encyclopaedia and literature properly 3) use the period printed sources properly 4) use the treatises of that time properly 5) use the period manuscripts properly
- Syllabus
- The seminar will deal with selected issues of Bohemian and European Baroque and Classical music, taking into account contemporary aesthetic theories (affect theory, musical rhetorical figures) and Aufführungspraxis. A short excursus will also be devoted to the methodology of musicology and music historiography. An introduction to the subject - an elaboration of the state of research, with particular reference to the music of the Baroque and Classical periods

- It is necessary to choose a topic for the elaboration of the seminar thesis (state of research) and to propose literature and possibly sources from which the seminar thesis will be based. The seminar also includes a reflection on the topics of the bachelor thesis.
