Course objectives
The Landscape in the Two Wars. The course is an investigation into the theme of landscape and its representation in Italian literature of the Great War and the Resistance. Through the reading of some passages of prose and poetry in which the landscape occupies a central role, the course aims to familiarise some central works of the 20th century by placing them in their historical and literary context. Furthermore, it adopts the tools of ecopoetic criticism to observe the evolution of the man-nature relationship in literary representation.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to familiarise students with Italian literary history through the reading of a selection of texts in prose and poetry on the theme of landscape during the two World Wars. Students will be accompanied in the study of the foundations of stylistic analysis and in the acquisition of the skills necessary to investigate literary texts on a micro- and macro-textual level.
