Course objectives (in Czech)
This course is designed to improve every aspect of your everyday English and to help you learn real language skills for real life situations. The courses are based on the communicative method and are aimed to develop all four skills: listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing; expand your vocabulary and practise grammar.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • Tuesday group: Textbook: English File Intermediate Plus SB B (U6-10) All materials are included in the course fee. Course content - topics and functions: Sightseeing and monuments, food and reastaurants, entertainment, mind and body adjectives, prepositions, collocations, phrasal verbs Course content - grammar: modal verbs verb patterns have something done reported speech and reporting verbs the passive conditionals Wednesday group: Textbook: English File Intermediate Plus 3rd edition, SB A (U1-5) All materials are included in the course fee. Course content - grammar: modals for deduction gerunds vs infinitives relative clauses passives conditionals Course content - topics and functions: films and film industry, work and career, crime, houses and homes, education phrasal verbs, collocations, everyday English
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Credits will be awarded based on attendance - you must meet 75% attendance to be eligible. The course is a year-long course, 32 hours in total. The autumn term part comprises 17 weeks of teaching, taught during the exam period too. You may miss 8 lessons in total, 5 in the autumn part. In the event of long term illness, please contact the course organiser.
