We do not require any knowledge of the Dutch language. This course is for beginners.

Course objectives
The aim of this course is to teach the students basic Dutch so that the students are able to communicate in everyday basic situations. We focus on all four skills - speaking + proper pronunciation, listening, writing and reading. The student also acquires basic knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and realia of the topics we focus on during the course.
There is a follow up course - Dutch for beginners II. At the end of both courses is the expected level A1 - A2 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Learning outcomes
Students will learn the basics of Dutch, learn reading with comprehension, listening, speaking and will be able to communicatie in basic communicative situations.
Syllabus
  • There are two topics which we focus on in the course. These topics are the topics of the first two chapters from the textbook Vanzelfsprekend: • 1.Welcome on board • 2. How are you?
Teaching methods
weekly lessons - 2 hours per week
Assessment methods
The course is completed by credit (z). Prerequisite for admission to the credit test is regular attendance (max. 2 unexcused absences), completion of homework within the set deadline and active participation in lessons.
