- Course objectives
- The course offers an introduction to the didactics of German as a foreign language and its theoretical foundations. The course focuses on reflection on the central subject language from various perspectives relevant to foreign language teaching, on practice-relevant language acquisition theories, on concepts and methods of teaching German as a foreign language and on the framework conditions of GFL teaching in the school context. In addition, students learn about various tools for lesson observation and lesson planning, as well as important specialist journals, reference works and introductions to German as a foreign language and foreign language didactics.
- Learning outcomes
- - The students know important basic concepts of foreign language didactics. - They have an insight into the contextual conditions and factors of GFL teaching and can describe and critically reflect on important methods of foreign language teaching. - Students will be guided by the latest methodological development of GFL didactics. - They are familiar with important specialist journals, reference works and introductions to the subject and are able to deepen their knowledge by reading current specialist literature.

- Teaching methods
- The course comprises three hours of classroom teaching per week and one hour of asynchronous teaching via the learning platform. - presentations - reading of basic literature - reading-related task on scientific literature - debates in class - group work - Exchange via the course forum of the learning platform and via co-operative writing pads
- Assessment methods
- - Reading-related assignment (50% of the final grade): Summarising and reflecting on the central theses of one article on a topic of the course or from the journals presented in the course. - Oral examination on a topic of the course (50% of the final grade) 75% attendance and regular completion of homework during the course are compulsory.
