Course objectives
The seminar does not aim at thoroughly presenting what poststructuralism and deconstruction are (whatever we might imagine under these terms). It will rather attempt at showing with the help of several theoretical texts that it is possible to talk and write about literature and language differently than it is commonly done (i.e. differently from structuralism and hermeneutics). The programme of the individual seminars was to be covered by representative texts in Czech translations. However, it appeared necessary to choose some other texts in English translation (or original), which means the participants to the seminar should be able to follow written English text.
Syllabus
  • Every seminar will centre around one theoretical text while the  teacher will in no way present the students with a correct reading of  the text. The students taking part in the seminar should be nterested in the field covered by the seminar and at the same time willing to discuss different themes, ask and answer questions. The following list of seminar readings is preliminary, another texts can be included following a request by the students. As the reading of one text is supposed to take more than one seminar, the list is preliminary as far as the number of texts is concerned as well.
