Course objectives
The seminar deals with the Ruralistic School in Czech literature between the wars (the members of the school wrote mostly prose but also poetry). The authors depicted countryside, endeavouring to capture its spiritual meaning. This long neglected and misinterpreted school will be analyzed in the context of Czech and foreign literatures.
Syllabus
  • Attention will be paid mainly to Josef Knap, František Křelina, Jan Čep, Václav Prokůpek, Jan Čarek, Josef Koudelák, František V. Kříž, A.C. Nor, Rajmund Habřina and Josef Holeček and to the journal Sever a východ. The week-to-week programme will be specified in view to the students knowledge.
