Course objectives
The ordering of Europe after the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. The Holy Alliance, the first and second waves of the European revolutionary cycle, revolutionary movements of 1848-49 in Europe, the Crimean War, movements for national unity and the origin of the Italian national state, the struggle over Prussian primacy in Germany, events in the Balkans in the mid 1870s and the Congress of Berlin, the formation of the Triple Entente and Entente Cordiale, the Balkan wars of 1912-13, World War I and the Versailles process.
