Course objectives
The intention of the seminar are the topics, which didn't fit to the model of socialistic literature. For that reason their description was unacceptable. On the second hand they uncovered the truth about the communist régime in the postwar Czechoslovakia. The official literature didn't spoke about the problems with drugs, alcoholism, prostitution, homosexuality or persecutions (or only mentioned them).
Syllabus
  • In the form of reports students will analyse the works, which contribute to the identification of the topics. The analyses will be intended on the way of description of the problem, on the measure of frankness or on the relation between macro- and microworld (culture and subculture) and further on the genesis of work, its history and autobiographical moments. (e. g. R. John, J. Pelc, J. Krejcarová, R. Nenadál, J. Pastýř, Z. Brabcová, E. Kantůrková, J. Beneš et al.) Also a comparation with the works of the world literature is possible (e. g. A. Moravia, P. P. Pasolini, J. Cheever, W. S. Burroughs, E. Limonov et al.).
