Course objectives
The seminar will focus especially on the reading and interpretation of chosen texts; the interpretation will not aim only to comprehend a remarkable semantic variety of a concrete text (poem), but above all to discover the semantic centres, which could specify the poetics of Group 42. Since this time the works of The Group 42 had a strong influence, we could not omit this fact and we will highlight some poets, who follow up The Group 42.

  • 1. The Literary context in the time of inception of The Group 42. 2. The Programmic declaration of Jindřich Chalupecký. 3. The Semantics of a Town: A Scenery of a Town. 4. The Semantics of a Town: The Court. 5. The Semantics of a Town: The Room - The Town and the intimity. 6. The Multivoice of a Town - an anthropogistical dimension of the poetry. 7. The Myth - The Characters of fate, the witnesses of the occurrences. 8. The Myth about the reality: the everydayness. 9. The Composition vs. the fragmentation. 10. A Searching for the present time. 11. The total realism of Bohumil Hrabal, a "latent" member of The Group 42. 12. The versology as a key of the influence of the Group 42 for Jan Vladislav, Zdeněk Rotrekl and Ivan Diviš. 13. Emil Juliš and Jan Zábrana - a heritage of The Group 42's poetics.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Seminář bude ukončen zápočtem; předpoklady k jeho dosažení budou: napsání seminární práce (interpretace básně či sbírky jednoho z členů Skupiny 42) a 70% účast v seminářích a příprava do výuky (čtení připravených textů).
