Course objectives
The lecture will deal with the Pre-Socratic philosophy. First of all it will talk about the ideas about the origin and development of the Universe. We will study mainly the fragments of Pre-Socratics and we will discuss their various interpretations. The students will meet also the methodology of the work with these fragments.

  • 1. The question of founts.

    2. Mythological cosmogonies.

    3. Cosmological ideas of Milesians.

    4. Pythagorean ideas about the Universe (the Cosmos).

    5. Heraclitus.

    6. The Eleatics.

    7. Cosmology of younger physics.
