- Course objectives
- Doctoral dissertation should prove the student's capacity for individual scientific work. It must contain original scientific ideas. It is handed in in three copies either as a published monograph or authorial manuscript. The minimal extent is 200 000 characters. The work must be written on white sheets A4 and the numbered sheets must be bound in hardcover. An integral part of the work is the front page, which contains the names of the university, faculty and department, the study field, the name of the work, the names of the author, the supervisor, the year, the contents, the list of used literature and the statement of originality. At the same time students submit the main theses, results and achievements of the work in the extent of 20000 characters. The theses must contain the names or the university, faculty and department, the study field, the name of the work, the author, the names of the supervisor, the opponents and the chair of the field board. The theses accompanied by the information on the date, hour and place of the defense of the work, the opponents' critique are sent to other universities, faculties and scientific institutes at least 5 weeks before the defense. On the basis of a proposal by the field board the dean appoints two opponents of the work. If the opponents disagree in their opinions of the work, the dean appoints a third one, whose opinion is decisive. If two opponents recommend the work for defense, the chair of the field board sets the date of the defense. The defense is held in front of a committee of at least 5 members, which is appointed by the dean. The supervisor and the opponents are members of the committee. At least one member of the committee must be a member of a different faculty. The chair of the committee is appointed by the chancellor. The defense is public, the result is discussed at a non-public meeting. The decision is made by means of secret voting. The decision is either "defended" or "not defended".
