Course objectives
Aim of the practical training course is introduction to anatomy of human skeleton and introduction to basic anthropological technics used in skeletal anthropology.
Syllabus
  • Basic anatomy of human skeleton: 1. Mikroscopic anatomy of bone. Emryology of human skeleton: development of skull, development of axial skeleton and developemnt of upper and lover limbs. 2. Skull. Development of skull bones, anatomical description of individual bones of braincase. 3. Skull. Anatomical description of the facial skeleton. 4. Axial skeleton. Vertebral column, description of individual vertebrae, ribs, sternum and sacral bone. 5. Skeleton of the upper limb: clavicle, scapula, humerus, radius and ulna. 6. Carpal and metacarpal bones, phallanges and it's anatomy. How to distinguish each other. 7. Skeleton of the lower limb: pelvis, femur, tibia and fibula. 8. Tarsal and metatarsal bones, phallanges, anatomy and distinguisihing. Principia of anthropological work: 9. Úvod do antropologické práce 9.1. Burrials 9.1.1. Primary 9.1.2. Seconday 9.1.3. Reconstruction Task: counting of maximum and minimum number of individuals from given material. 10. Sexing of skeletal remains 10.1. Sexual dimorphism 10.2. Age influence 10.3. Age determination according skeletal ossification and skeletal maturation 11.2.1. In children and juvenile skeletal remains 11.2.2. In adult skeletons 11.3. Combined metod 11.4. Other metohod for age determination Task: Determining of age using more methods in children and adult skeleton 12. Stature height reconstruction 12.1. Methods and their using Task: Counting of stature height in given skeletal material by various methods 13. Cremations 13.1. History 13.2. Theory and definition of cremation 13.3. Preparation and picking up of cremations 13.4. How to study cremations Task: Determination of one cremation (determinate sex and age) in given material Examination: One unexused absence in practical training course during semester is possible only.
