Course objectives
The seminar will be concentrate on the study of the Moravian gentry (knigthood) in 16th and 17th century with certain look at the preceding epoch. It will deal with political and social role of the gentry, their economic and cultural activities, religious direction. We will pay attention to some of the important personalities, transformation of the gentry position during the above mentioned period and comparison of the situation in Bohemia and Moravia, respectively in surrounding countries. In the seminar we will use published and archives documents and special thematic literature. Students will work out a seminar paper in the end.
