Cíle předmětu
The course will look at two partly related areas. The first is the development of the work of one of Britain's leading contemporary novelists, Ian McEwan; fiction considered will include The Ploughman's Lunch, The Child in Time, Enduring Love, Amsterdam, Atonement and Saturday. The second aspect of the course will be a socio-political consideration of significant moments or developments in post-war society, including 1968, the emergence of the globalized informational network society, the possible ,decline of liberalism and the rise of environmentalism. The main texts used to read these developments will be '1968' by David Caute, The Information Age trilogy by Manuel Castells, Postmodernism and The Environment by Arran Gare and Enlightenment's Wake by John Gray.
