- Course objectives
- The course is based on the study of primary sourses from the pre-columbian period - codexes and holy books from the colonial period. The outcomes from these sources will be compared with current mythology of those groups of Maya which are not influenced by Christianity. Particular symbols from current religious naratives will be compared with identical ones from the pre-columbian period. The aim of the course, which should also support active participation of the students, will be a definition of a key religious symbols of ancient Maya, search for their meanings and identification of their current reinterpretations.
