Art historical geography and national interpretations as a methodological tool of art historical discourse.
Syllabus
  • 1. Nation, ethnic group, tribe, race 2. Relationship of the nation to the state, especially in central Europe 3. Art historical geography 4. Kunstlandschaft, Kunstraum 5. Formalism and stylistic criticism 6. Visual arts and construction of national identities 7. National stories of art history 8. New solutions: dynstic art history 9. New solutions: constructivist geography, sites of memory, global vs. local 10. excursion in the border region Southern BOhemia - Upper Austria.

Assessment methods
Lecture in the dialogic form. Evaluation based on a written essay on a selected given topic, min. 7000 signs including scholarly apparatus.
