- Course objectives
- The principal goal of the course is to gain insight in the basics of museum practice in collection institutions concerned with the presentation of folk culture. At the end of this course the student will be orientated in the history of collecting, will have mastered the history of individual museum collection in the Czech lands, will be able to distinguish their focus and importance for the region in the broader research context as well. Based on the acquired knowledge the students will be well orientated in museum legislation, principles of museum work, namely registration, processing, care and evaluation of the collection stock – its presentation by way of exhibitions (exhibition libretto and scenario, museography), publishing (specialised texts, catalogues, bibliography) and lectures. In this respect a great emphasis is placed on the mission of the museum worker and the ethics of their work.
