Course objectives
This course takes a detailed look at selected celebrations and rituals of late medieval society. Its aim is to examine in detail rituals and ceremonies from various society environments, to consider the main idea behind the ritual and the changes in ceremony rituals at the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Early Modern Age.

  • 9. Town ceremonies: renewal of the council
  • 10. Town ceremonies: processions
  • 11. Transitional rituals
  • 12. “False” rituals as a document of codes.
