Course objectives
Development of Greek culture in the Classical and Hellenistic periods; development of architecture, sculpture, painting and crafts. Understanding and analyzes of styles, artists and masterpieces.
Syllabus
  • The lecture will explain the most important periods of the developement of the Classical and Hellenistic Greek art. Achievements of the ideal naturalistic style and the principles of kalokagathia and the ulterior developement in the 4th century and the Hellenistic period. The lecture is followed by seminar on Greek art.

Teaching methods
lectures supplemented by explanation of the scientific opinions on these topics and explanation of the pertinent archaeological material from classical and hellenistic period (originals and copies)
