Course objectives
Social psychology utilises in a specific manner substantial methods of data sampling but it employs also methods developed specifically for research and measurement of social psychological phenomena. The aim of the course is to demonstrate (by relevant examples) the specific employment of selected methods in social psychology.
Syllabus
  • 1. Observation in social psychology – observation categories for group activity and interaction. 2. Ethical aspects of experiment in social psychology. 3. Content analysis, its substance and posibilities of employment in social psychology. 4. Sociometry as the instrument of research and diagnostics concerning the small social group. 5. Osgood’s semantic differential, its construction and employment for processing and interpretation of data. 6. Prototype approach, its original employment for analysis of concept representation at lay public, and the later employment for research of emotions in social psychology. 7. Discourse analysis as one of possible solving of methodological crisis in social psychology.
