Course objectives
The course deals with main phenomena of the development of Greek literature from the 16th to the 18th centuries, during the period of Turkish rule. Lectures will be supplemented by readings from Greek literature and students’ papers. The aims of the course are: understanding of main phenomena of the development of Modern Greek literature in the given period, understanding of main tendencies of literary development, ability to classify authors and works into literary context and characterise them.

  • Greek Diaspora after the fall of Constantinople.
  • Literature at the Dodecanese and Cyprus.
  • Cretan literature.
