- Course objectives
- At the end of this course, students will have the first view on the relationship among language, religion and spirituality by using a multidisciplinary attitude (sociology, sociology of language, sociolingvistics, lingvistics). During a course, students will work and analyze different religious texts.

- Introduction. Religion and language
- Types of religious language (moral discourse, metaphore, symbol, language and religious experience)
- Language and religious practice (prayer, liturgy)
- Holy languages, problems with translation
- Sociology of language and sociolingvistic
- Qualitative methods for a relationship of religon and language
- Semantic change and religious change
- J. A. Fishman: Theoretical introduction
- Bible-speak, glosolalia, words with a religious meaning in a non-religious context
- Gender and religion, work with a dictionary
