Course objectives
The aim of the course is to explore in more depth issues approached in the course Buddhism II. The course aims to train basic Buddhist terminology through reading of basic source texts and also to present Buddhism as lived religion. At the end of this course students will be able: - to explain basic terminology connected to Buddhist teaching and lived religion; - to demonstrate knowledge of important Buddhist source texts; - to interpret the contents of selected Buddhists texts with regard to the context of their origin; - to distinguish basic forms of Buddhism as lived religion (life rituals, feast etc.) - to describe the difference between normative and lived Buddhism(s)
