Course objectives
The course is focused on facts concerning the Latin grammar. Attention is paid eg to Latin morphology and syntax, in the extent that can enable students of German to work with elementary Latin texts.

  • The course is focused on facts concerning the development of Latin. Attention is paid e.g. to pronunciation, basic morphology and syntax.

Assessment methods
Active class attendance (75%) and conscientious preparation of grammar and translation assignments are the essential requirements for grade. Course grade is determined by performance in a final written exam where students’ mastery of basic grammar is tested through a translation of a short self-contained Latin passage (dictionary allowed).
