- Course objectives
- The seminar introduces the main issues and concepts of literary theory to the students. The concepts are scrutinized in their historical context, i.e. in connection with particular periods in the history of literary science (positivism, formalism, structuralism, hermeneutics, Constance School). Part of the seminar will also be devoted to interpretation of particular theoretical and artistic texts.
After fiishing the course the students will:
- gain literary theoretical terminology with regards to poetology, versology and narratology;
- understand basic literary theoretical approaches and strategies for interpretation of literary texts;
- be able to apply these strategie to interpretation of literary texts;
- gain the skills to use primary as well as secondary literary theoretical sources in order to interpret particular literary texts. - Syllabus

- In order to be given credit the students are obliged to fulfil following conditions: to write and submit an essay, to prove an active contribution to the lessons, to submit short summaries of the seminary texts, to pas the written final test.
