Introduction into European painting and sculpture of the 19th century.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction into European art of the 19th century: transformation of function of art, time definition, main style streams - classicism, romanticism, realism, naturalism, impressionism.
  • 2. Classicism, Romanticism and Orientalism in French painting.
  • 3. German Romanticism and the Nazarenes.
  • 4. English Landscape-Painting, the painters of Barbizon.
  • 5. Francisco de Goya.
  • 6. Realism and naturalism.
  • 7. French impressionism.
  • 8. Postimpressionism, the birth of the modern art.
