- Course objectives
- The lecture is aimed to present life, institutions and geography of French:geographic conditions, administrative division, folk customs, etc.). The knowledge of life, institutions and culture is considered to be a necessary part of the study of a language because it enables better orientation in the given "milieu" and better understanding of the extra-lingustic reality. This knowledge is important especially for future translators and interpreters.
- Syllabus
- Different topical themes will be discussed. Visits of expert lecturers dealing with these themes.
- Several examples of traditionally discussed themes:
- - France - physical and economic aspects
- - regions
- - standard French and dialects
- - Woman in French society
- - The French and the EU, etc.

- Active participation in the course (only 2 missings are accepted) Participation on class discussions and all written homeworks in time are requested.
