- Course objectives
- A survey of development and changes of style in European musical culture from late middle-ages to mid-17th century from the point of view of history, music theory and sociology. Ability of audial and score analyse.
- Syllabus
- 1) History of composition - twilight of the technique of cantus firmus
- 2) Moteto type and crystallization of vocal polyphony
- 3) Madrigal type as a representative of change of the relation music - word
- 4) Metamorphoses of types and forms of music of 15th and 16th centuries - from Dufay to Monteverdi
