Course objectives
Selected topics from the history of the old French literature will expose the literary evolution from the baroque period up to 1789.

  • The stress will be put on: 1. The baroque vision of the world ans its consequences in literature. 2. Preciosity in the 17th century: salons of the précieuses 3. Baroque and classical novel 4. Baroque and classical drama 5. The Enlightenment period paradigm

Teaching methods
Lecture: description of the literary field, explanation and definition of basic notions and their demonstration on concrete texts by concrete authors. Seminar: Application of the acquired theoretical knowledge on authentic texts. In the form of a presentation the students show their capability to connect their theoretical knowledge while working with a concrete text.
Assessment methods
Examination: control of read books, written analysis of a text, oral exam based on determinated questions.
