- Course objectives
- At the end of this course students should be acquainted with the most important topics relationed to history, culture, economy and institutions of the Iberian Peninsula. The aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the background of the historical development within the most important periods. At the end of this course, students should be able to define basic notions not only of the historical aspects, but also of the artistic and literary context in question. Students should be able to classify a given historical period and the most important historical personalities, as well as the most outstanding literates and artists.
- Syllabus
- The course offers a brief outline of the most important historical periods. Main topics may be summarized as follows:
- . The reign of the queen Isabel de Castilla and the king Fernando de Aragón.
- . The House of Habsburgs and the Spanish Court.
- . The House of Bourbons.
- . The War of Independence (Spain in the period of Napoleonic Wars).
- . Proclamation of the First Republic.
- . Restauration of the Monarchy.
- . Spanish Society of the beginning of 20th century.
- . Proclamation of the Second Republic.
- . The Spanish Civil War.
- . Spanish society under Franco.
- . Contemporary Spain.

- Lecture: description of the historical field, explanation and definition of basic notions. Demonstration of possible approaches to particular historical periods and important figures on various texts by different authors.

- Examination: Written test. (Prehistorical Period - 20th Century, included.) Written test on a theme chosen in the discussed matter, assigned by the professor.
