- Course objectives
- The course follows the lecture "The story of Don Juan narrated by himself", US_112. However, completion of US_112 isn't a prerequisite of enrollment into US_110. This course follows Handke's prose "Die linkshändige Frau". It will attempt to reactualize the technical elements of romantical origin and analyse the narration which makes subject of itself. Emphasis will be laid upon the development of these elements in Handke's prose.

- 1. Impulses of Russian formalism in Handke's artistic activity.
- 2. Is "Die linkshändige Frau" a feminist roman?
- 3. Romantic distrust of ideas and ideologies ("Wunschloses Unglück", "Der kurze Brief zum Langen Abschied", "Die Lehre von Saint Victoire").
- 4. Narration that makes subject of itself.
