- Course objectives
- Objectives of the course: The course provides students with a solid understanding of key concepts in morphology and lexicology. The course aims to encourage an active approach on the part of students toward the subject matter. Students successfully completing the course will be able to discuss basic lexical and functional categories. They will be able to describe morphological structures of words and different types of the formation of new naming units. They will also be able to identify and discuss grammatical and semantic properties of individual word classes.
- Syllabus
- Description of the course: This seminar will be divided into two parts. The first will look at the semantic representations which appear in lexical entries. Attention will also be paid to the morphological structure of words and the formation of new naming units. The second part of the seminar will be devoted to the analysis of individual word classes. The topics covered in the course are as follows: - word meaning

- - morphological structures of lexemes
- - formation of new words I (clipping, blending, wrong cutting, invention, borrowing)
- - formation of new words II (zero derivation, compounding, extension, narrowing, bifurcation, backformation)
