Course objectives
The main objective of the seminars is reading and analysis of selected source and literary texts that regard Sorbian history and culture. The course is intended for all students interested in Slavonic Studies. Knowledge of Sorbian and/or German is not required (the texts in question have been translated into Czech).

  • The following texts will be read and analysed in the seminars: 1. Adolf Černý "Různé listy o Lužici" (selected passages) 2. Ludvík Kuba "Čtení o Lužici" (selected passages) 3. "Vlastní životopis Jana Arnošta Smolera" 4. Jakub Bart-Ćišinski "Národní snahy studentstva lužicko-srbského" 5. Měrćin Nowak-Njechorński "Chmurný rok sedmatřicet" 6. Memorands od Sorbs from years 1945 and 1947 7. Romuald Domaška "Pilátovo jezero" 8. Beno Budar "Starý křižák" 9. Jan Skala "Starý Šimko"
