Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand essential principles of emblematic and iconology of early modern period and to interpret subject of baroque artworks, especially of ceiling paintings.
Syllabus
  • "Concettismo" – introduction.
  • Emblematic and iconology of early modern period, Ripas "Iconologia".
  • Creators of iconographic programs in Moravia: Antonín Martin Lublinský, Dionysius Strauss.
  • “Concetto” to the ceiling paintings in the Jesuit church in Brno.
  • Codex Albrecht, the iconographic program to the ceiling paintings in the Hofbibliothek in Vienna.
