- Course objectives
- Student develops his/her knowledge of grammatical patterns, learns the structures of more complex constructions and gets a thourogh knowledge of the basic grammar of the modern Japanese; he/she is equiped with sufficient vocabulary for basic conversation and translation of simple texts.

- Teaching methods
- Lecture according to the study materials, with focus on basic syntactic structures and sociopragmatic specifics of the Japanese language. Students also get acquainted with the basic terms of the Japanese linguistics. Additional explanation based on the results of short test is offered in written form.
- Assessment methods
- The attendance is compulsory, 2 absences are allowed. The course ends with an written exam, which will summarize the grammar learned in summer semester (including the grammar learned in the previous semester), and will cover the both parts (theoretical and practical) of the course. To acquire the credits for this subject, the attendant must obtain minimum 70%. During the semester short tests will be written (their purpose is to check the readiness for the class). In the last class a qualification test will be written (70% is required for being allowed to take the exam).
