- Course objectives
- Social Psychology This course will introduce the students into the issues of social psychology. There will be discussed such topics as the term of situation, interpretation of situation, social interaction, identification, action, principles of social gathering, psychology of the crowd, theory of learning, theory of social interaction, concept of life space, theory of social perception, theory of cognitive dissonance, crisis in social psychology, psychological and sociological social psychology. Attention will also be paid to the methodological issues of social psychology (semantic differential, sociopsychological experiments - the effect of the experimenter, sociometrics, action research). We will separately deal with symbolic interactionism, socialization of personality, social schemes, social identity, cultural contexts - ethnocentrism, self-conception - self-esteem, self-determination, cultural contexts of ego and model of ego. Emphasis will be put on social interaction, social facilitation, theory of social influence, group processes, group communication, cultural patterns, social perception, implicit theory of personality, achievement attribution, interpersonal relationships, attitudes, values, components of attitudes, development of attitudes, changes of attitudes, measuring the attitudes, non-verbal and verbal communication, metacommunication, theory of attribution, errors in attribution, conflicts and cooperation.
