- Course objectives
- At the end of this course, students, should be able to: understand and be able to explain main trends and problems connected with religiosity in Poland, to formulate basic relation between Polish national identity and religion, to analyze religious interpretation of Polish national history, to delineate of changes in Catholic religiosity in Poland.

- 0. Introduction to the course.
- 1. Beginning of Polish Christianity I - christianization of Poland.
- 2.Beginning of Polish Christianity II - Church and state under the rule of Boleslaw I, pagan reaction.
- 3. Religion during 14th and 15h century - transformation of Polish Catholicism, s. Jadwiga, relation to the Lithuania.
- 4. Religious plurality in early modern Poland I - Jews and judaism in Poland.
- 5. Religious plurality in early modern Poland II - reformation in Poland.
- 6. Religious plurality in early modern Poland III - Orthodox and Greek-Catholic Church, islam 7. Religion and creation of Polish national identity - Catholicism and nationalism.
- 8. Religion and society in inter-war Poland.
- 9. Clash with communist regime.
- 10. Karol Wojtyla.
- 11. Role of the Catholic Church in transformation of Polish society in 80's of 20th century.
