- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will orientate themselfes in the basic material and literary sources for stated historical period and will be able to understand various problems regarding mostly the culture of this era with help of these sources.
- Syllabus
- 1 - topography of Minoan Crete and it's archeological localities
- 2 - topography of Mycenaean world and it's archeological localities
- 3 - pottery of the dark ages as a historical source, Greek every-day life
- 4 - Olympia and Olympic games
- 5 - topography of Greece in archaic period
- 6 - evolution of Greek architectonical styles
- 7 - Magna Graecia, "Greek world"
- 8 - history of clothing and housing in ancient Greece
- 9 - Greek warfare, important battles and expeditions of this era
- 10 - Homer and Hesiod as the historical sources

- Teaching methods
- reading and analysis of sources, discussion
- Assessment methods
- students will obtain credits if they: - are present and active in the class (70% participation) - give a paper on given topic - pass with success the final witten test (70% of correct answers)
