Course objectives
This course is based on theoretical knowledge gained in courses Museum public relations I. and Museum public relations II. Aim of the course is practical aplication of gained information by group discussions, training and practical projects. At the end of the course students should understand and apply information into practical museum public relations work.
Syllabus
  • 1. Museums and society, communication and collaboration. 2. Museum as a part of culture, museum and mass culture, leisure time. 3. Museums and central and local government and authorities, non-replaceable role of museums. 4. Museum's visitors – real and potentional; factors influencing museum visiting; things that go to make up the visit experience. Special groups of visitors. 5. Communication with mass media. 6. Impact of museums ouside and inside of museum organisation, Image of institution. Advertising. 7. Museums and amateur clubs, museum societies, society of friends, lobbying. 8. Professional organisations and society. 9. Consumer research and opinion poll. 10. Museum and school, museum and school cooperation, activities for pupils and students, activities for teachers. 11. Work with children and youth, leisure time museum clubs, education of future museum audiences. 12. Museums and adults, leisure time museum clubs and associations by museums and another activities. 13. Interactive activities for visitors, using of new information and communication technologies. 14. Effectiveness of museum presentation forms on museum audiences.
