Course objectives
On the condition of regular and active attendance and completion of the course and Kant´s Critique of Judgement (1790)the students will be able to understand the structure and key passages of this challenging work; this requires the understanding of the role of this third critique in the overall system of transcendental philosophy. Students will also become familiar with the basic ideas of Kant´s rationalist (Baumgarten, Mendelssohn) and empiricist predecessors (Burke, Hume). At the end of the course they will have become familiar with contemporary interpretations of the Critique of Judgement (Henry Allison, Paul Guyer, Heinz Peatzold and others).
