- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students will be able to look up available sources for stated historical period and with their help to understand and explain the most important processes and phenomena of political and cultural history of that time.
- Syllabus
- The seminars will contain lectures on selected topics regarding political and cultural history of Rome from its origins until the end of the Republic supplemented by analysis of literary and material sources. Students will get acquainted with the opinions of modern scholars on the development of Roman Empire and society in this period, as well as the geography of Roman world with special attention to the topography of Italy and the city of Rome. Some of the source texts will be subject to self study as part of the preparation for the final test.
