- Course objectives
- The seminar introduces the student into Protoslavonic and Old Church Slavonic grammar using analysis of OCS texts. A part of the seminar material is an examination of Paleoslavonic and the development of individual Slavic languages, using examples from texts.

- 1. Indoeuropean origin of Slavonic languages, 2. Balto-Slavonic unity, 3. pre-historical period of Slavonic languages, 4. Slavonic linguistic unity and its disintegration, 5. diachronic phonetics and morphology of Slavonic languages, 6. comparison of the modern Slavonic standard languages.

- Assessment methods
- To obtain credits, students must attend lectures and seminars regularly, write an essay on a previously selected topic, and pass a written test. The exam subject matter includes selected issues of historical and comparative Slavonic linguistics and an analysis of a selected Old Slavonic text. Students will have to demonstrate their knowledge regarding diachronic phonology and morphology of the pre-historical period of the Slavonica languages as well as in respect to the modern Slavonic languages, their classification and individual linguistic signs.
