- Main objectives can be summarized as follows: History of the Spanish language in America, influence of substrate languages; phonetic, phonological and morphosyntactic differentiation.

- History and formation of Latin American Spanish.
- Analysis and commentaries on different theories of genesis of Latin American Spanish.
- Dialect areas.
- Phonetic and phonological differences.
- Morphological and syntactical differences.
- Lexical differences; lexical americanisms and their origin.
- Perspectives of evolution of Latin American Spanish.
