Course objectives
In the frame of the seminar the students gain knowledge about the different aspects of the medieval architecture. As the most important are recognized the written sources, field research and its documentary, professional literature, topographie, regional literature, restoration reports, plan documentation and iconographical material (vedutes, photographies, 3D models etc.). Also the acheological and building historical research and documentation are crucial, as geophysical methods or other kinds of technological research. At the end of the course the students should have been able to describe the history of the building, its building-development and date it into the frame of its regional context.

Teaching methods
The seminar includes lectures of the teacher but also speaches of the students, followed by the discussion about the studium of the medieval architecture.
Assessment methods
The student voluntarily chooses a medieval building at the begining of the seminar, afterwards will refer during the seminars about his or her investigation progress and the state of the research. At the end the students submit the results of their studium and research in wrtitten form.
