Course objectives
The seminar will teach students to actively use the terminology of modern literary theory, acquaint them with the basics of key approaches in 20th-century literary and cultural studies, and facilitate their critical understanding of interpretations based on these approaches.
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
- compare individual literary theoretical conceptions and understand their context
- critically assess these theories
- use theoretical concepts when interpreting a literary text
